Proper oral hygiene is of course indispensable for maintaining a bright smile, but there is one other important bit of advice: Watch what you eat and drink. Certain foods and beverages can discolor teeth. If you want to protect your pearly whites, read on for some common culprits that stain your teeth.
Pasta Sauce
Because of their acidity, bright red hue and tendency to cling to the teeth, the tomatoes in pasta sauce can leave your teeth vulnerable to staining. Dine on some dark green veggies, such as broccoli, kale and spinach, beforehand to create a protective film over the teeth. The film will ward off tomatoes' staining effect, so spring for a green salad as an appetizer.
Curry
Curry, a spice that works well in Indian food and exotic dishes, is also a cause of discolored teeth. Its deep pigmentation can yellow teeth over time. Due to its high staining factor, curry is something you may want to limit in your diet. Whenever you dine on curry-spiced food, mix in fresh fruits and vegetables that prevent stains, such as apples, carrots, cauliflower and celery.

Providing the Best Dental Care for Your Children
Dr. Sunnes puts children at ease so they can enjoy their visits to our office. We use the latest advancements
in dentistry that are delivered in a gentle manner. We enjoy teaching children how to take care of their teeth
at home, so they can maintain their natural teeth for a lifetime. We enjoy seeing them at six months for their
first visit and each year thereafter, as they grow and change.
We strive to have all generations of children not have fear and worries about dental treatment. We are here to
help a scared or active child feel calm and cared for. Many parents have told us we are succeeding in this goal,
as they have been very pleased with how their children enjoy coming to our practice.

Relax and Feel Comfortable During Treatment with Sedation Dentistry
We know how challenging going to the dentist can be for some people due to anxiety over shots,
drilling, and procedures. We want you to be comfortable in our care, and we can make that happen
for you with conscious sedation dentistry. Going to the dentist becomes so easy, because with
this type of sedation, you won’t even remember your treatment.
By simply taking one pill an hour before your appointment time, you will begin to relax. As you
sit in the dental chair, you gradually progress to a significant level of calmness. You are not
unconscious, just unaware of the procedure. You are still aware enough to respond to any questions
the doctor may ask. Your vital signs will be monitored during the procedure and when it is
completed, someone drives you home. In about an hour, you are completely normal.
This type of sedation also works well for those who can’t get numb with regular anesthesia. And
for those who don’t have the time for multiple visits to complete their dental work, conscious
sedation makes possible one longer appointment to take care of all the work that needs to be
performed.
We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for situations that require lighter sedation.

Orthodontics That are Barely Noticeable
Dr. Sunnes is pleased to offer the Invisalign™ system that allows patients to straighten their teeth in as
few as 9 – 15 months! These invisible aligners correct all the usual problems of gaps, overcrowding, overbite,
underbite, and crossbite.
Invisalign™ uses three-dimensional imaging technology to prepare a complete treatment plan. It starts with
the current position of your upper and lower teeth and progresses you to your new smile. Thermoplastic aligners
that fit over your teeth are created to gently move your teeth into the desired position. Every two weeks you
advance to the next set of aligners as they gradually reach the goal of your straight and uniform smile.
Every one to two months you come in for evaluation. Treatment time varies somewhat for each patient, with the
average time being one year.
